1. Overview

Lineage Bible ("Lineage Bible," "we," "us," or "our") is a collaborative audio Bible app that lets families record Scripture aloud, verse by verse, in their own voices, and listen back together. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and app (together, the "Service"), why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses the Service, including family members added by an account holder.

Lineage Bible is a product of Together On Mission.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, information generated by using the Service, and information about how you use it.

  • Account information: name, email address, password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, never in plain text), profile photo, birthday, bio, and your relationship to your family (e.g. "Parent," "Grandparent").
  • Audio recordings: the verse-by-verse voice recordings you and your family members create, along with metadata such as which passage was recorded, when, and by whom.
  • Written and audio study notes: reflections you add to a verse, including any photos you choose to attach.
  • Family and household data: the families you create or join, who else is in them, and roles/permissions within them.
  • Usage data: which chapters you've recorded or listened to, plan progress, badges and streaks, and general app usage/diagnostic information.
  • Device and notification data: push notification tokens, device type, and similar technical identifiers needed to deliver the Service.
  • Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details directly. We never see or store your full card number.

3. How we use it

  • To provide the core Service: recording, storing, and playing back your family's Scripture recordings.
  • To operate features you opt into, such as reading plans, reminders, notifications, badges, and streaks.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • To communicate with you about your account, service updates, and (if you've opted in) activity from your family.
  • To maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Service, including diagnosing technical issues.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your voice recordings to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only as needed to operate the Service, with the following categories of service providers:

  • Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage, and hosting for the Service.
  • Stripe — payment processing for paid subscriptions.
  • Expo — delivery of push notifications to the mobile app.

Within your family, your recordings, study notes, and profile information are visible to the other members of any family you belong to, consistent with the purpose of the Service. If you mark a Passages Plan you create as public, its content (passage references and, once recorded, the associated audio) may be visible to other Lineage Bible users outside your family.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lineage Bible, our users, or the public.

5. Children and family members

Lineage Bible is not directed at children and is not designed for children to create their own accounts. Only an adult (18 or older) may create a Lineage Bible account. If a family includes a minor, their voice recordings and study notes are added and managed by the adult account holder who added them to the family — we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child through independent use of the Service. The adult account holder is responsible for obtaining any consent needed to add a family member, including a minor, and for the content recorded on that person's behalf.

6. Retention, cancellation, and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If a family's subscription lapses, the family's existing recordings remain intact and playable, but recording new content and some other features may be limited until the subscription is renewed.

You can request deletion of your account at any time from within the Service. When you do, we'll disable the account immediately and give you a time-limited window to download a copy of your recordings before permanent deletion. After that window, we permanently delete your account information, recordings, and associated files from our active systems. Residual copies may persist for a limited time in encrypted backups kept for disaster-recovery purposes, and are not used for any other purpose.

Because Lineage Bible is a shared, family experience, leaving a family does not automatically delete recordings you've already shared with that family — you can choose to keep your past contributions in place or request their removal. See our Help Center for details on managing your recordings and family membership.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to the process described above.
  • Request a portable copy of your information.
  • Opt out of non-essential communications at any time via your notification settings.
  • (California residents) Know what personal information is collected, and confirm that we do not sell personal information.
  • (EEA/UK residents) Rely on consent or contract as the legal basis for our processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and access controls that restrict recordings and family data to authenticated members of that family. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International users

Our servers and service providers are located in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or through an in-app notice before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
